Tilt shift is the camera technique of tilting the lens plane and the film plane, which changes the normal focal plane in the camera. The effect can give the appearance of looking at a scale model. This was only available on the larger format cameras, but now it can be done with some of the small point and shoot cameras, and in photoshop.
